Community Emergency Management Planning Sessions

Council has commenced a project to help build disaster resilience in high-risk areas across the municipality.

The project kicked off with a Disaster Information and Preparedness Session for interested community members in Horsham on 6 August 2025. The session was open to the general public, with a specific focus on residents living in the high-risk areas of Dadswells Bridge, Natimuk, Wartook and Laharum.

Attendees showed a lot of interest in developing emergency management plans for their community, and targeted community workshops in Dadswells Bridge, Natimuk and Wartook/Laharum will now be held over the coming weeks. These workshops will help each community map their unique strengths, vulnerabilities and needs.

The first community emergency management planning workshop will be held in Dadswells Bridge on Sunday 5 October 2025, closely followed by Wartook/Laharum and Natimuk (details to come soon).
