“Children and the village that raises them”

We are excited to invite you to share your thoughts and ideas as we work together to create the best possible foundations for life success of children and their families within the Horsham municipality.

The purpose of the Early Years Plan 2024-2028 (The Plan) is to provide a strategic direction for the development and coordination of early years programs, activities and other local community development processes that impact on children and their families.

How can I have a say?

Horsham Rural City Council (HRCC) is currently undertaking a broad range of engagement activities with children, families, community organisations and service providers to more thoroughly understand the current and future early years service and facility needs. Listed are the following engagement dates:

  • Internal HRCC Workshop – 14th November 2023
  • Community Organisation and Service Provider Workshop – 4th December 2023
  • Community Event – Up Tempo ‘A Chat and Free Cuppa’ – 24th November 2023 - 9am-12 noon
  • Schools and Playgroups – Various Dates
  • Online Survey open until – 26th January 2024

I would like to do an online survey!

We have two surveys available. One for the adults and one for the children. The child survey is for the children aged 0-10 years. We will be doing a lot of listening in the coming weeks and we don't want to just hear from adults. Thank you parents, carers, support workers and friends for helping children in their lives share their thoughts.

What happens after I have my say?

Feedback from the community will be used to develop a draft Municipal Early Years Plan. The Plan will then go to Council to be reviewed. After Councillors have reviewed the draft Plan in January 2024. It will then be released back out to community for feedback. Once the Community feedback review is closed. It will go back to Council for adoption in February 2024.

What happens to the plan?

The plan will then provide an updated framework to address opportunities, challenges, aspirations and emerging issues facing our children and their families over the next four years.
