Horsham Bypass Planning
Help shape the future of Horsham 🚧
Horsham Rural City Council is beginning early planning for a potential bypass connecting the Western, Henty and Wimmera Highways.
The project responds to a long-standing community aspiration to reduce heavy vehicle traffic through the CBD while carefully considering impacts on homes, businesses and daily life. Traffic through Horsham is growing rapidly. In 2012, around 2,000 trucks travelled through the area each day. Today, that number has climbed to approximately 3,600 — and with several major developments underway or on the horizon, it’s expected to rise even further
This is the very start of the process. No route has been chosen and no decision has been made about whether a bypass will proceed.
Community involvement
A dedicated Community Reference Group (CRG), made up of local residents and industry representatives, has been established to help guide this work. The group will ensure a broad range of community perspectives are considered as Council explores future options.
The list of Community Reference Group members are available on the left.
