The Victorian Government has funds available for the 2023-2024 Roadside Weeds and Pests Program to assist eligible councils responsible for managing lengths of municipal rural roadsides.

Horsham Rural City Council is one of the regional councils across Victoria that has received funding under this program in the past.

This funding has assisted us to manage of regionally prohibited, regionally controlled, and restricted weeds and pests on rural roadsides. To receive funding under this program we must develop a Weeds and Pests Management Plan.

Your feedback

We asked the community for views on which species and locations should be a priority in the plan.

The weed species must be prohibited, controlled or restricted. The plan will also deal with the management of rabbits on roadsides. The plan will set out how noxious weeds and pest animals will be managed on council managed roadsides in our municipality. This will exclude roadsides along VicRoads managed roads.

Submissions now closed

Weeds and rabbits on Council managed land can be reported at any time using our reporting system or by calling Council customer service on 5382 9777.
